Ideal Weight Calculator
Determine your healthy weight range based on height, gender and body frame size. This calculator combines multiple scientific formulas for accurate results.
1 cm = 0.39 inches | Switch to inches
How to Determine Your Frame Size:
Method 1: Wrist Circumference
- Men:
- Small: < 16.5 cm (6.5")
- Medium: 16.5-18.5 cm (6.5"-7.3")
- Large: > 18.5 cm (7.3")
- Women:
- Small: < 15 cm (5.9")
- Medium: 15-16 cm (5.9"-6.3")
- Large: > 16 cm (6.3")
Method 2: Elbow Breadth (more accurate - requires calipers)
Formulas Used:
- Devine Formula (1974): Most common medical standard
- Robinson Formula (1983): More accurate for women
- Miller Formula (1983): Updated for modern populations
The calculator averages these formulas and adjusts for frame size.
Understanding Ideal Weight
Your ideal weight is a range (not a single number) that:
- Minimizes health risks associated with being under/overweight
- Takes into account your body composition (muscle vs fat)
- Varies based on gender and frame size
Limitations of Ideal Weight Calculations
These formulas don't account for:
- Muscle mass (athletes may healthily exceed the range)
- Age-related changes in body composition
- Ethnic differences in body fat distribution
- Individual metabolic factors
Healthy Weight Management Tips
- Focus on body composition over weight alone
- Aim for sustainable changes (0.5-1kg per week)
- Combine strength training with cardio
- Prioritize sleep and stress management
